$2,500 Dave Craigen Scholarship
Dave Craigen was a bright light and an accomplished CEO in the credit union system, with a far-reaching collaborative legacy. Dave's career was infused with passion, innovation, and the courage to challenge the status quo.
Dave lost his courageous battle with brain cancer in 2023, yet a light as vibrant as his shines on through the spark it ignited in others. Seeing the possibility in those around him and mentoring them to reach their potential are hallmarks of his leadership.
As a mentor and "best boss" to eLeadership Academy founder Sandra McDowell, Dave left an indelible mark. The Dave Craigen Scholarship is a tribute to Dave's enduring legacy, ensuring that his light is passed on through the recognition of the light in others.
Eligibility
The Dave Craigen Scholarship recognizes credit union leaders who have a passion for developing others and who wish to further their leadership or coaching studies. It is only open to eLeadership Academy graduates who have attained their Certificate in Applied Leadership and Credit Union Leadership & Coaching Designation (CULC).
The applicant must have attained a Certificate in Applied Leadership (CAL) and a Credit Union Leadership & Coaching Designation (CULC) from eLeadership Academy within the last five years.
The applicant is currently working for a credit union or CUSO.
The applicant may apply for a scholarship to support leadership or coaching studies through an approved university or program.
The applicant must have demonstrated a commitment to their credit union and to developing others.
All applications must be received by 12 pm PST on August 31 of the given year.
A maximum of one $2,500 CAD Dave Craigen scholarship will be awarded annually. The recipient will be notified by September 15 of the given year.

One 300-500 word essay describing your commitment to your credit union and your passion and actions for developing others to reach their potential
One letter of recommendation from your Manager, HR, or senior leader at your credit union
$1,000 Emerging Leader Scholarship
The Emerging Leader Scholarship is designed to nurture the next generation of leaders in the credit union industry. Investing in their development ensures continuity, resilience, and relevance in an ever-evolving financial landscape, securing the future of credit unions for generations to come.
This scholarship recognizes individuals who demonstrate potential and commitment to growing their leadership confidence and competence.
This scholarship can be used towards tuition to attain a Certificate in Applied Leadership from eLeadership Academy.
Eligibility
The Emerging Leader scholarship is open to credit union or CUSO employees who aspire to serve their credit union in a people leadership role. This scholarship can used for tuition to attain a Certificate in Applied Leadership from eLeadership Academy.
All applications must be received by 12 pm PST on September 30 of the given year.
The recipient will be notified by October 15 of the given year.
Required Documents
A 300-500 word essay outlining your current role, your passion for serving others through leadership, an explanation of how the scholarship would help you, and your beliefs on why you are a good choice for this scholarship
A letter of support from a manager, HR or Learning & Development professional at your credit union
Resume, including current role within your credit union or CUSO
