Designation

The Credit Union Leadership and Coaching Designation (CULC) is a qualification in leadership and coaching that is jointly awarded by eLeadership Academy® and Royal Roads University to credit union leaders meeting application requirements. Designation holders have developed competencies in leadership and coaching and demonstrated the application of these skills, along with an understanding of their significance within their role in the credit union system. Eligibility

  • Completion of a Certificate in Applied Leadership (CAL) through eLeadership Academy®, representing over 100 hours of focused leadership and coaching training
  • A minimum of two years working within the credit union system managing others, or equivalent experience leading by influence operationally (preference given to those with longer tenure)
  • Completion of the 12-Week CULC Designation Program
  • Demonstration of continuous learning, including 10 logged continuing education hours completed within the last year (may include eLeadership Academy, RRU, CCUA, and WOCCU courses or events)

Application and Renewal

Application
CULC Designation applications can be submitted after completing the 12-week Designation Program. CULC Designations are valid for a period of three years.
CULC Designation Accreditation
Successful applicants receive a CULC Designation jointly awarded by eLeadership Academy and Royal Roads University. This includes a CULC certificate and digital credential, recognition at the annual CU LEAD Summit, and equivalency credit for the graduate course LEAD 580 Leadership, Community, and Collaboration, (which is one of three courses in the Graduate Certificate in Management and Leadership at Royal Roads University).
Program Fee: $3500 CAD / $2600 USD per person
The Designation Program Fee includes two 1:1 mentor coach session, one leadership coaching session, five cohort webinars, team application and project evaluation, and access to eight weekly office hours with faculty for coaching or discussion.
Renewal
CULC Designations are valid for a period of three years, and recipients may renew after that time. A renewal must include a coaching endorsement letter from a workplace coachee, an overview of continued coaching practice and leadership learning, a mentor coach session, and a log of 10 continuing education hours over three years. 

CULC Designation Program 

This online 12-week, cohort-based program is offered January–March of each year and is exclusively for credit union leaders pursuing a Credit Union Leadership and Coaching Designation.  
Application deadline for the 2026 cohort will be November 30, 2025.
The CULC Designation Program Fee includes two sessions with a mentor coach, one leadership coaching session, five webinars, team application and project evaluation, a CU LEAD Virtual Summit pass, CULC application fee, and access to weekly office hours with faculty for coaching or discussion during the program.
